On a trial basis, we are offering you the opportunity to pose a genealogical question regarding a Blount County family to those who visit our web site. The Blount County Genealogical & Historical Society is only hosting the query site and will neither provide answers nor conduct any research regarding a query.

AndersonAnderson family of Middlesettlements/Friendsville area. I can verify my 3rd great grandfather as Jonathan Anderson (ca 1815 - ca 1864). Parham papers mention Jonathan as the son of James Anderson. Studies by Jane Kizer Thomas supports this information. I would like to verify this is the James Anderson of NC (b. 1774) who is the son of James Anderson of VA, who probated a will in 1797 in Knox County, TN. James Anderson (will, 1797) mentions son, James, amongst his children in the will.

Anderson, James Sr.
Born 1770's in SC; died 27 April 1850 in Blount County, TN. Buried at Four-Mile Baptist Church cemetery in SW Blount Co. Marker was present when cemetery was canvassed in 1933, but had been removed or was no longer able to be read when WPA canvassed the cemetery in 1938. Seeking information regarding the location of his grave within the cemetery and/or photograph of his grave/marker/stone.

Bonham
I am descended from many Blount County residents, but inquiring about the Benjamin Bonham Sr./Phoebe Oney to Benjamin Bonham Jr. /Olive Saffell to Elizabeth Bonham/ Elijah Longbottom line. Am particularly looking for gravestones or probate records for clues to Phoebe Oney Bonham who died 1830 Blount Co and her husband Benjamin Bonham from NJ/VA. Same questions for Elizabeth Bonham who died about 1850s in Blount Co and her husband Elijah Longbottom from NC - do know that he and some of the family moved to Indiana in 1840.

My name isTom Bonine, Geneva IL. I am looking for information on my gggg-grandfather Isaac Bonine. He married Sally Merritt in Blount Cty, in 1826. Listed in Roan Cty in 1831. Next appears in Morgan Cty, MO in 1850 and 1857. Any information will be of help especially as to who his parents are.

Griffin/Heath
My gr-gr Grandparents were Young H. Griffin and Anna Heath. Young was born in SC and Anna in NC according to all the census data. They married Blount Co, on 11 Feb 1820. They moved to Athens, McMinn Co, by 1830, where they stayed. Looking for parents of Anna Heath; looking for evidence of Heath's in Blount County; have found only one deed in Blount Co., that for a Garmon Heath. Would appreciate hearing from anyone having information on this family!

Spradlin/Spraggins/Spraggen, Thomas
born VA; wife Nancy Hudgins b. in VA. Married 1800 in Powhaten Co, VA. Very likely the parents of the David Spradlin(g) b. 1809 in VA who married Matilda Wimberly in Blount Co. in 1828.1830 Census Blount County: Thomas age 50-59, wife age 40-49 with 2 sons under age 19 and 2 daughters under age 14 plus adult female age 60-69.
In 1830 Census for Monroe County, a Thomas Spraggins age 70-79, wife age 60-69. Nearby is David Spradling, Matilda and oldest son (Leonidas). David's father died 1832-33 and estate was settled in Blount Co in 1833. Nancy also died Blount County in abt. 1835, estate also settled in Blount Co. William Spradlin, likely their son and therefore brother to David, died 1840 in Blount County, estate also settled in Blount Co. Which Thomas and wife are the parents of David (and possibly of William)?

Waller
I am descended from Thomas Waller and his wife Jenny Carter. Thomas Waller is listed on the 1800 census for Blount County. Their son Richard Waller was born June 15, 1787 in Blount County. He was married to Parryzade Odle, daughter of John Odle and Frances Pfeiffer. The Wallers and Odles all moved to southern Illinois from Blount County. Any information would be profoundly appreciated.
